Goretex Transalpine Run in Sexten Sesto

For the 3rd time now, the finish of that is probably the most gruelling and best- known transalpine marathon was in Sesto. Since it first took place in 2005, the GORETEX Transalpine Run has been known as one oft he greatest possible challegnes for mountain and trail runners. In teams oft wo, participants have to cover eight stages, climbing (and descending) a total of 13,000 m and putting 300 km behind them. Every year, the route crosses the Alpine ridge, taking runners up to mauntain passes at 3000 m a.s.l. and through beatutiful valleys. In alternate years the race is run on westward and eastward routes. In 2012, the finishing post of this marathon was again in Sesto, where more than 600 participants and approx. 200 accompanying persons from 20 nations were  accommodated.
