Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run

For 15 years now, the South Tyrolean Tre CIme Alpine Run has been held in Sesto. What began as a competition among friends to reach the Rifugio Zsigmondy, soon became a fixed event for maountain fans and mountain runners from all over the world. Annually, around 1000 paricipants start the race hoping to complete the 17,5 km long route and total climb of approx. 1.350 m to reach the finish at the legendary Tre Cime/Drei Zinnen. Since 2005, there have also been events to introduce children to mountain running. The Mini Tre Cime Run for children from 6 to 16 years of age now boasts around 250 young participants each year. Runner`s World wrote in 2003 about “Europe’s most beautiful mountain run”, but this is by no means the only praise the organisers have earned over the years.

The organisation committee around President Gottfried Hofer has already given much careful consideration to the forthcoming anniversary “15 years of the South Tyrolean Tre Cime Alpine Run”. There will of course be a special celebration to mark the anniversary, althrough the organiser does not wish to  give away too much about it yet. As well as a Mini Run and team event, the organisers will also come up with something new again…but more of this in  September 2012. We look forward to seeing you there!
